Residents of a major city were left terrified yesterday after an elevator plummeted from the top of a building, crashing to the ground below.
The incident took place at around 12:00 pm in the city's downtown district. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang before the elevator plummeted from the building, falling several stories before crashing to the ground. Remarkably, no one was in the elevator at the time of the incident and there were no reported injuries.
The cause of the incident is still unknown, but the local fire department and building owners are currently investigating the matter.
In a statement released by the building owners, they have promised to make sure the situation is assessed as quickly as possible and any necessary repairs are made as soon as possible.
This incident has caused alarm amongst many of the city's residents, many of whom have expressed their concerns about the safety of the city's elevators.
The incident is still under investigation.
